We understand the existing system, protect important behaviour and deliver changes whose effect can be checked.
We begin with the company’s goal and the current way of working. Slow checkout, a new payment provider, manual copying of data or a customer portal that is hard to extend may have very different causes. Not every task needs a lengthy audit, but an important change requires an understanding of scope, data, integrations and operational constraints.
An existing application also holds business rules, customer data, payment behaviour, permissions and integrations. We identify the stable, important behaviour and then choose a justified scope: a module, API, integration, performance improvement, frontend or separate application. Sometimes the right decision is to leave a working part alone.
Where scope and risk allow, we divide work into smaller pieces that can be reviewed, tested and observed. We protect, for example, price calculation, order state, user access or data sent through an integration. We do not assume every project can be delivered without interruption or in identical stages; the delivery path depends on the system and its operation.
We isolate a payment integration when provider code is spread through checkout and makes change difficult. We do not turn a monolith into microservices because they are fashionable. Stable SOAP does not have to give way to REST merely because it is older, and a frontend improvement does not automatically require a new backend. AI supports a defined task; permissions, rules and final decisions remain with the application.
Illustrative example: a company has a PHP application whose ordering behaviour is sound but whose customer portal is difficult to extend. A possible approach preserves the order logic, exposes a controlled API, modernises the customer interface and leaves stable internal modules alone until there is a reason to change them. This is not a GiSoft client case.
Finishing the code does not finish the work. We check the interface, API, data, integration responses, background processing, performance and operational signals relevant to the change. Where needed, we plan safe recovery or further correction. This tests the result in use, not merely whether it passed locally.
